1 tsp of table salt = 6 g · 1 tsp of baking powder = 4 g · 1 tsp of baking soda = 5 g

Salt: why brand matters

Salt crystals vary hugely in size. A teaspoon of fine table salt weighs about 6 g, Morton kosher salt about 4.8 g, and Diamond Crystal kosher salt only about 2.8 g. Many US recipe developers use Diamond Crystal, so if you use table salt, use a little under half as much.

Australian tablespoons

An Australian tablespoon holds 20 ml rather than 15 ml. When a US recipe says 1 tablespoon, use 3 teaspoons instead. You can turn on a reminder in the calculator's settings.
