Almond flour: cups to grams

Almond flour is finely ground blanched almonds. It is light and fluffy, so a cup weighs about 96 g, less than a cup of wheat flour. It is popular in gluten-free and low-carb baking, and in French macarons.

1 cup of almond flour = 95 g

½ cup = 50 g · ¼ cup = 25 g · 1 tablespoon = 6 g

Almond flour or ground almonds?

In the UK, almond flour is sold as ground almonds. Almond meal, made with the skins on, is coarser and gives a more rustic texture.

Not a 1-to-1 swap

Almond flour has no gluten and lots of fat, so it can't directly replace wheat flour in most recipes. Use recipes written for it.

Weights are for a level US cup (236.6 ml), spooned in, based on published baking ingredient-weight charts. Weighing will always be more accurate than any cup.
