Rolled oats: cups to grams
Rolled oats, also called old-fashioned or porridge oats, are light and full of air, so a cup weighs only about 89 g. That is why measuring oats by weight can make a big difference to cookies and granola bars.

Quick oats
Quick-cooking oats are rolled thinner and cut smaller but weigh about the same per cup. In cookies they give a softer, less chewy texture.
Steel-cut oats
Steel-cut (pinhead) oats are dense chopped grains: about 140 g per cup. They cook differently too, so don't substitute them for rolled oats in baking.
Weights are for a level US cup (236.6 ml), spooned in, based on published baking ingredient-weight charts. Weighing will always be more accurate than any cup.
